Are all of your products organic?

All of our products are made with certified organic ingredients except ingredients that can't be found organic: e.g. red clay, sodium chloride (salt), sodium bicarbonate. If a product is not organic, it is cultivated or extracted without synthetic chemicals, or it is wild harvested: e.g. kelp seaweed from the Bay Area.

Are the products safe to use for people with nut allergies?

Since most of our ingredients come from tree nuts it is best to stay away from all our products if you have any nut allergies.

Why are conventional body care products bad for my body and the environment?

It has been 80 years since Congress last passed legislation regulating the cosmetics industry in the USA. Most products on the market today are made with chemicals that were introduced several decades ago. Since then, scientists have found that many of these chemicals are related to cancer, asthma, birth defects and fertility problems. Let's put it simply: there is no regulation in the cosmetic industry and conventional mass-produced cosmetic products are laden with synthetic chemicals.

The average woman uses 12 personal products daily and is exposed to hundreds of chemicals - none of which are required to be tested for safety.

"While other countries have banned almost 1,300 ingredients from use in cosmetics, the U.S. has only banned 11” Environmental Working Group (EWR).

What is your return policy?

We do not accept returns and we do not issue refunds. However, if you have any issues with your product, please email us at zerowastevoyage@gmail.com and we will address these on a case-by-case basis.

What's the shelf life?

You can expect that our products will be stable for one to two years depending on the product, after which the oils will start to become rancid, and the products will loose their aroma (essential oils evaporate). If you open the product and it smells good, then it is good!

Since most of our products are made with a base of oil and beeswax, which are both natural preservatives, even if your product doesn't smell like a fresh product, it is still safe to use, the aromas are just not as pleasant!

We do not use any synthetic preservatives of any kind, thus extremes in temperature (freezing, thawing, and humidity) can affect a product's shelf life by changing its consistency and aroma.

What happens if a product gets frozen at the top of a mountain, or overheats in my car?

It is still safe to use! though this may affect consistency and shelf life.

What type of labels do you use ?

While we'd love to continue using rubber backed paper labels, they do not withstand use, oil and moisture. As such, we decided to use the best labels we could find on the market — We use PURE Labels for our 100% biodegradable/recycled/recyclable labels, made by Elevate Packaging (https://elevatepackaging.com/). We love our planet and know that each sustainable packaging choice we make matters!

What preservatives do you use?

We do not use any synthetic preservatives. Our products are rich in antioxidants that naturally occur in oils, butters and waxes that we use as our ingredients. We use vitamin E oil and rosemary extracts for natural preservation.

Where do you source your products & packaging?

We source all of our packaging from the United States. We source as much of our ingredients from North America as possible, especially ingredients that are heavy and that we use a lot of. For instance the pure, cosmetic beeswax we use comes from organic beekeepers in Oregon.  If we can't source ingredients from the USA, then we look for Fairtrade options in Latin America, and globally.

When it comes to Essential Oils, these highly concentrated oils that compose the lovely aromas of our products are used in small quantities because they are very strong. As such, we source the Essential Oils from the places they grow best in. Can you guess where our Lavender Essential oil comes from? South of France !
